I’ve been doing some food photography work for Longhorn BBQ in Spokane, WA and recently got a behind the scenes look at their southern-style BBQ pit. They serve lip-smacking ribs, BBQ beef sandwiches, turkey, sausage, chicken, chicken wings and more, 7 days a week. They have two locations in the Spokane area, one in Airway Heights near the Spokane Int’l Airport and another in Spokane Valley off of Argonne near Trent. A local BBQ staple, Longhorn Barbecue originated in Houston, TX in 1946 and after 10 years in business the Lehnertz brothers decided to move to the great Northwest. The meats impart a unique flavor as they are smoked on the pits by a combination of apple, cherry, alder, and birch woods.
